Happy Homestead News

  • Quitting My Day Job

Last month, I took the biggest leap of my life (to date) and left my day job to work on the homestead full-time.  From this point forward, I’m devoting my time and energy to our gardens, animals, bees, Salves & Such products, and my energy healing practice.  Working full-time on the homestead has been my dream since we moved here in 2016, however, until now, I wasn’t ready to cross the chasm that stood between my dream and my reality.

We moved from our suburban "American Dream" home to the 10 country acres of our homestead on a rainy Spring day in 2016.  We were so excited to get started on our homesteading adventure that we began planning gardens, gathering beekeeping equipment, and picking out chicken breeds as soon as our offer on the property was accepted. Our planning, though, moved quite a bit faster than the purchase of the new place.

  • Welcome to the Happy Homestead Farm!

In the Spring of 2016, we bought a log home on 10 acres near Kalkaska, Michigan and began turning it into our Happy Homestead.
